Facial Eczema

Facial Eczema (FE) is a disease which causes lowered production, skin irritation and peeling, and sometimes death.

As our climate warms the risk of Facial Eczema will continue. There used to be a window of risk in a limited geographical region. This has now expanded to an all year-round focus in a greater number of regions.

A lot of research has been carried out in the last couple of years that has provided detail on how many cows are affected and the impacts on milk production. The research outcomes have enabled vets and farmers to have clearer more affective strategies to tackle FE.
