Outward Bound Scholarships Available!
Outward Bound is excited to offer scholarship funding for young adults aged 18–26 on both their Discovery and Classic courses.
The 8-day Discovery Course is a fast-paced, high-energy adventure designed to challenge you physically, mentally, and emotionally.
The 21-day Classic Course is the original and iconic Outward Bound experience — a perfect balance of adventure, reflection, and personal growth.

THE DISCOVERY COURSE
Step away from the noise of everyday life and into a week that will stretch you into your potential. The one-week course is a condensed version of the classic three-week Outward Bound experience – designed for young adults who want the challenge, growth and adventure, but are short on time.
You’ll navigate the bush, mountains and waterways of the Marlborough Sounds, using nature as your classroom and your own mindset as the compass. Expect little downtime, plenty of challenge and moments of reflection that will expand your perspective.
Course dates:
10th December – 17th December 2025
3rd February – 10th February 2026
16th February – 23rd February 2026

THE SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE DISCOVERY COURSE
Scholarships on the Discovery course are valued at $3,698 per person and leave a remaining fee of $500 to pay towards the cost of the course as well as the additional costs of transport to Picton and a doctor’s appointment to get our medical form completed.

THE CLASSIC COURSE
Outward Bound’s classic three-week adventure is designed to help you step away from the noise, challenge yourself and reconnect with what really matters. Each day brings something different, and while we won’t tell you everything upfront, expect to be active, outside and occasionally out of your comfort zone. With a supportive crew and highly-trained instructors who’ve got your back, you’ll quickly discover what you’re truly capable of – especially when you choose to back yourself.
This iconic course is built around teamwork, reflection and personal growth. You’ll leave with a stronger sense of who you are, what you value and how you want to show up in the world. The best investment you can make is in yourself because everything starts with you. When you emerge with a new sense of clarity, confidence, and your full potential, you’ll realise that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
