Dairy Women’s Network (DWN) is proud to announce Ashleigh Gordon and Leilani Lobb as the finalists for the 2026 Regional Leader of the Year Award, recognising their contribution to the dairy sector at a grassroots level.
Both finalists have demonstrated their commitment to their regions, fostering strong community spirit and demonstrating leadership that aligns with DWN’s values of inclusivity, seizing opportunities, and building connections.
DWN Chief Executive Jules Benton says the finalists embody the essence of leadership within rural communities.
“Our volunteer Regional Leaders play a vital role in DWN’s success. They’re the face of DWN in their communities, connecting with and supporting others, and ensuring DWN remains deeply grounded in the realities of rural life,” says Benton.
“Ashleigh and Leilani have shown incredible enthusiasm and dedication to supporting dairy women in their regions. Their ability to connect, lead with purpose, and create meaningful impact is exactly what this award celebrates. We are incredibly proud to celebrate their efforts and the positive impact they make every day.”
The recipient will receive a scholarship for a leadership development programme of their choice.
The seventh Regional Leader of the Year will be announced on May 5 at the Gala Dinner during the DWN Conference 2026, themed “Success through Inspiration”. Registrations are open to join in celebrating the finalists at the Conference and Gala Dinner, click here to find out more.

About the Finalists
Ashleigh Gordon
Ashleigh Gordon is a passionate and community-driven dairy farmer based in Ashburton, Canterbury. Known for her energy and a genuine passion for bringing people together. As a DWN Regional Leader, she has quickly made her mark by delivering engaging events that connect and support rural women.
Outside of DWN, Ashleigh is deeply involved in her local community, contributing to initiatives such as the Methven Preschool Fundraising Committee and the Methven Toy Library, while also helping run a home kill business alongside her husband.
As natural connector, she creates welcoming environments and actively encourages others to get involved and back themselves. Through her leadership, positivity, and hands-on approach, Ashleigh is a strong advocate for the dairy sector and a valued role model within her region.
Leilani Lobb
Leilani Lobb works full time on farm as a contract milker with her partner Ben near Kurow, Otago, while also being a dedicated DWN Regional Leader for North Otago and a committed contributor to her local rural community.
Stepping up into leadership roles with DWN, including a temporary hub leader role, she has played a key role in connecting and empowering farmers through events, learning opportunities, and meaningful conversations. Leilani is also a member of the 2026 South Island Dairy Event organising committee and co-founded the Canterbury Dairy Young Leaders group to foster high-level discussion and growth.
Known for her positivity, relatability, and willingness to support others, she leads by example – encouraging those around her to build confidence, get involved, and strengthen their communities.
