Calf Rearing Expo – Waikato

Wednesday 5 June –

Although we only work with calves for the first 3-4 months of life, as calf rearers we have the greatest opportunity to influence the lifetime productivity of these animals. Join us to get a better understanding of what you can do in the first 12 weeks to improve calf survival, growth rates and ultimately, lifetime productivity.

Feel prepared and ready for the calf rearing season as SealesWinslow and AgriVantage take you through best practice to maximise calves’ potential right from Day 1. We will have a panel discussion with a local dairy farmer to share their learning and experiences.

And with expo stands from sector organisations around the room, there will be plenty of experts in animal care and nutrition to call on for advice, all under one roof.

Is this event for me?

This expo is for anyone with an interest in raising happy and healthy calves, while at the same time in supporting their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of their team during the calving season.

What topics will be covered?

  • How the first 12 weeks impacts lifetime productivity – what’s the potential opportunity?
  • Shed set up: ventilation, bedding and biosecurity.
  • Calf pick up and navel care.
  • Colostrum – the single most important aspect of calf rearing.
  • Feeding calves for lifetime performance – managing liquid and hard feeds to support optimal growth and rumen development.
  • Stress free weaning.

This expo is brought to you by SealesWinslow and AgriVantage.
