Waikato farmer, Aimee Wilson has been named the 2025 Dairy Woman’s Network (DWN) Regional Leader of the Year, sponsored by FMG.

The award was announced at the DWN2025 Conference ‘Success Through Inspiration’ on 1 May.

Jules Benton, DWN CEO, says “Aimee is one of three remarkable leaders, including Tania Clark and Shayla McGrory, who are being celebrated for their outstanding contributions to leadership, community, and personal growth as a DWN Volunteer Regional Leaders.

“Each of these women has demonstrated unique qualities that inspire and empower those around them, making a lasting impact for the dairy sector”. 

Jules Benton, DWN CEO says “it was hard judging such high calibre finalists, and we’re thrilled to announce Aimee Wilson as our 2025 DWN Regional Leader of the Year”.

 “Aimee Wilson is a quiet yet impactful leader who consistently pushes herself outside her comfort zone to grow personally and professionally. ​ She values teamwork and has embraced opportunities such as conferences and leadership roles to develop her skills. ​

“She’s known for her authenticity, and we love that she aligns with the DWN values. ​ Her ability to connect with others and take initiative makes her a true role model”. ​

Aimee has always had a love for farming, and now sharemilks with her partner and three children just out of Te Awamutu. She became a regional leader to learn new skills, experience new opportunities and to meet inspiring women within the industry.

Aimee will receive a scholarship for a leadership development programme of her choice.

“We are deeply grateful to DairyNZ for their ongoing support of our volunteer Regional Leaders. Their partnership enables us to empower grassroots leaders who are the backbone of our rural communities-organising events, fostering connections, and championing positive change across the sector,” Benton adds.

The two other finalists were Tania Clark, who’s ability to foster trust and help others bring ideas to life highlights her dedication to building relationships and creating positive change, and Shayla McGrory, who is a dynamic connector and relationship builder that thrives in team environments and collaboration. ​

Benton says, “These three women exemplify the power of leadership, connection, and authenticity. ​ They are a reminder that you can achieve success through inspiration, and that growth, resilience, and collaboration are key to making a meaningful impact”. ​
