Rain, rain, go away!

It’s been a hectic 2 weeks. Well and truly over half way through calving now. We had an
amazing start to calving weather wise but we are currently on day 2 of at least 10 days of rain.
Everything is very wet, soggy and muddy!

We have had 2 birthdays to celebrate during calving – Indy turned 13 and Summer turned 2.
Managed to fit in some celebrating in between getting cows and calves in.

The milk price increase this week has been a lovely surprise for the beginning of the season.
Will make things financially a little bit easier. We are 1000 milk solids ahead for the season
which is a great start. The cows are looking good and I think it is safe to say we have our down
cows under control with only a couple so far this season compared to 40-50 last year. I’m sure
we have saved a lot of money this season by not having to treat multiple down cows every day.

We have about 80 cows left to calve – seems like calving has gone so fast 💨 looking forward
to cranking into the season and praying for some sunshine ☀️.
