Bronwyn Ward, upper North Island Primary ITO Training Adviser, dairy farmer and former NZ Diploma in Agribusiness Management tutor, gives us a ‘taster’ of recruitment and selection. Mana Wahine is about acknowledging a unique and valued feminine energy to the world of Dairy farming. In a Māori world, the balance between ecology and economy requires both a female and male perspective. Cheyenne is a young Māori woman who strives outside her comfort zone to learn and grow driven by her goals to inspire our youth to follow their calling and give back to the people who have supported her. Cheyenne is a good example of Mana Wahine in action. This is her story so far…
Marianne Farrell, National Literacy & Numeracy Manager at Primary ITO, takes us through how dairy learners who have literacy, numeracy or dyslexia challenges have the same opportunities to achieve their qualifications with additional support provided by Primary ITO. It is essential for us all to be able to communicate well in our modern world, and without addressing literacy, numeracy and dyslexia challenges, mistakes can be made on farm – from health and safety (e.g. incorrect chemical calculations), through to financial.
Contact your local Primary ITO Training Adviser on 0800 20 80 20 to discuss the support tools we have available for you and your team to complete your qualifications. If you’re keen to join up as a mentor, email Marianne Farrell, National Literacy & Numeracy Manager, on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
