Early detection and prompt effective treatment of lame cows is one of the best ways to prevent future lameness. However, the job of treating lame cows isn’t always enjoyable and can drop down the priority list, meaning treatment gets delayed. This results in cows that take longer to recover, produce less milk, have poorer reproductive outcomes and are more likely to get lame again and be culled from the herd.
