Are you a first herd buyer, or looking to get involved in purchasing stock for the first time?  Our Dairy Days in February and March will help you to understand the process of buying and selling stock, step by step, allowing you to make an informed decision.

Learning outcomes:

• Discuss sale and purchase agreements in detail and understand the legal obligations of buyers and sellers
• Recognise herd records involved with buying and selling and discuss how to set up records and transfer cows between parties (including NAIT requirements)
• Talk about the "fish hooks", best time to buy and sell, pregnancy testing, in-calf guarantees, unsound animals, rejection rates etc
• Practically assess some cows to identify those able to be rejected
• Understand the agents role in the process

Join us on farm for the discussion and practical assessment of stock, and leave with a checklist of the buying and selling process so you can make an informed decision.

Participants should bring:

• Gumboots
• Wet weather gear e.g. raincoat if poor weather conditions
• Sun protection e.g. cap, sunscreen. Note: part of the day is spent in the field
